With the festive season fast approaching Christmas is an thrilling time for everyone, but with all that excitement and and fun filled busy days your usual routine can go a little off kilter which can mean your little ones sleep can suffer.
Here are the Snuggle Sleeve teams tried and tested simple tips for sweet slumber over the holidays…
Night night, sleep tight
When staying with family and friends over the holidays try to keep your routine as similar as you would at home, familiarity will help them feel comfortable and safe which is vital for sweet dreams. Think about taking your own bedding with you as the scent of home will help settle your little one and try to always remember that special bedtime buddy to snuggle up with at bedtime. We know parents who have driven long distances home to fetch favourite toys so try and make those the first things you pack!
Bathe with bubbles
A warming bath before bedtime works wonders, especially after a busy day, winding down with a nice bath can literally wash away any anxiety or calm down excited toddlers. A drop or two of some lavender scented baby bath oil is a lovely way to make bath time even better – the soothing scent helps relax but built into your regular routine is scent trigger to help your little one know it’s nearly sleepy time. One of our favourites is Bamford Organic Baby Bath and Massage Oil – it’s gorgeous scent means we’ve been know to use it on ourselves too after a full on festive day!
Turn the lights low
With lots of fairy lights around at this time of year it’s tempting to keep the sparkling and pretty lights on at bedtime but dim, darkened rooms are much more likely to help your little one rest well. If you’re staying at friends or relatives in a unfamiliar room , consider taking a travel blackout blind with you to keep the room nice and dark until morning time.
Keep on carolling
Your soft and gentle voice will soothe even the most hyper of children after a fun filled day – this time of year singing beautiful carols can be a great way for you both to wind down and prepare for calm before bedtime. Silent Night has to be top of the list!
